Mamas We Love - Peggy Juche

I don't remember how and when exactly did I get into reading blogs, but it was somewhere 6-7 years ago and one of the very first blogs that I've discovered was Pauletpaula, written and curated by Peggy. I stalked her ever since, live and online, and I am so happy that I did because she is truly the sweetest person!
So, I am extra happy and proud to have her in this months' 'Mamas We Love'! Enjoy...
Can you please introduce yourself and your kids…
Hi!
I am Peggy and I am originally from Berlin, Germany. At this moment I live in the South of Sweden, together with my French husband and our 4 kids. 4 kids born in 3 different countries, speaking an average of 3 languages - we try to juggle our international lifestyle with the rest that parenthood brings you.
Romy was born in London and is 9 1/2 years. Antoine is 7 and was born in Amsterdam. Same as his sister Leonor who is 4.
Joséphine was born here in Sweden and is 17 months.

How would you describe your own personal style and those of your kids?
I love good quality basics and accessories. I have a huge collection of scarves and jewelry. I am not running after trends and time showed me what suits me and my lifestyle. I am investing in good quality garments that I can wear for a long time and that look still great after years.
The same applies to pieces I get for the kids.Yes, I might also pick up some quirky pieces here and there but overall I prefer good quality over quantity. And with 4 kids it really pays off when you can pass things on.

How much influence do you have in what your kids wear?
I am the boss. Haha.
The little one does not care yet. Leonor has phases - no skirts phases. Blue phases. Dress phases. And a 'rain wear forever' phase. We roll with that and try to limit the battles.
Antoine and I - we are good. I know what he likes. Sometimes I see things that I know he would love and I am usually right.
Romy likes to pick out things. She designs garments sometimes. In her little notebook. With lots of specifications about colours, details and fabrics. But she is not difficult when it comes to outfits.

Comfort vs. style: which is more important? Is it possible to have both?
Comfort! ... and yes it is possible to have both.
But putting your kids in some very stylish pieces that restrict them in their movement and 'being a kid' is not worth it. And they will not like to wear it either.
Kids fashion developed massively over the last years and finding cool as well as comfortable garments is no rocket science anymore.

Do you buy organic for your kids? Do you pay attention where the items you buy are made and under which conditions?
Yes. I adore small brands and what they stand for. Small productions, local resources, hand made, sustainable and so on.... Having kids means to make sure that they can grow up in a 'healthy' world. The story that comes with these garments is often as precious as the pieces themselves.

Is it possible to buy organic and fair trade with a normal family budget? Is it realistic?
At first sight it might look like a big challenge but, relax, it is not. Try to see the long term effect. Buy less but fine quality and made in good conditions. Mix with organic items from the high street. Treat the garments nicely so they will age in style. Buy basics in neutral colours so it is easy to pass them on between boys&girls. Exchange with friends that have kids - it is rare that everyone is the same age and size. Buy bigger sizes during sales and stock up. It is possible. It needs a little planning and organising but it is worth it.
It feels good when you see your 4th child with a jumper that all her siblings were wearing before already. You know it was a good investment!

What is it that you can’t live without since you have kids?
Wipes.

Favorite brand/label?
Remembering the comfy & stylish combo, these are my favourites:
nununu
Babe & Tess
boy + girl
and for boys especially: Finger in the Nose

Your kids’ favorite toy(s)in the moment?
Magna Tiles - they got the big starter kit for Xmas and love it. All of them. It is one of these timeless games that is loved and played with by all ages. Genius!

Favorite moment in the day…
Oh the evenings. When the kids are all in bed. The silence and the moment to finally having an adult conversation with your other half. Without any interruptions. Sharing our days, kids stories and and and... seeing them asleep is also a wonderful reminder on how lucky we are and how small the kids are {still}.

Favorite thing about motherhood...
Patience. Oh my god. I am so patient now. My husband sometimes called me a 'little dragon' because tiny details could really get me fuming. I am so cool now. I have my bad days too. We all do, but man...

And the cliche - the love. I can be angry {next to being cool}, I cannot like decisions they take or things they do but in the end - it does not matter. I just love them. Without boundaries or strings or anything... just pure love and that is really very big and amazing.
